Would be nice to try a bit of SPS. Not sure if you have anything like that around?

Well, I'll take whatever you're happy to part with. I must also give you your money for the frogspawn. I just tried some of those Paly's in the main body of water and they're quite unhappy. No shading there ATM so they're light-fried, I think.
I might be coming over to your side of the valley late this afternoon. Shall I drop by?

If you are brave enough, when you are settled, we can frag my green plate Coral.
the only negative is it needs to sit on a sand base and doesnt like being on a rock surface.

No photos ATM. Finally found some blue 50% shade cloth which I'll install some of when it cools off a bit in the afternoon.
Ordered a 1000L a day RO/DI unit from Marco, the Waterboy (thanks for the freebie switch, Marco ).
I think I have a water quality issue, so I think I'm going to need to do a big waterchange. This will be a hectic schlep, but I can't see a way around it.

Sure, but I've got to identify the problem first. Ozone won't remove heavy metals, for example.

Algae turf scrubber will help with heavy metals , algae incorporate it in their biomass and you harvest that and bye bye metals , your best bet atm without a skimmer, otherwise weekly Waterchanges <groan>

Yeah, but only a small amount. To put this in context, I've only drilled around 6 x 5mm holes above the tanks. I caught most of the swarf, so I wasn't too concerned. I'm going to give it one more try with my sacrificial Paly but with full, proper shading this time and let's see how far we get. The Palys in the good tub are colouring up nicely, visible even in sunlight.

Yes, good point, achilles. I've finally introduced a full piece of live rock into the main system (instead of messing about with coralline shavings). It has several stubby growths of algae on it, so hopefully that'll start the ball rolling with seeding the tanks. Algae growth in general is quite slow (no fish) bug I guess I can speed that up. I have some old f/2 fertilizer I can use.
Anybody know where I can get some Caulerpa in CT? Preferably the feathery ones like C. sertularioides?

Some pics.
Blue shade cloth in place:
First experimental round of egg crate:
Waynan's colony of mixed Zoas and Palys that survived the Beggiatoa infection:
And the first official polyp grown in my greenhouse (the little one on the top left, thanks again Waynan):
That last little colony barely survived the main tanks. I put it back in raw seawater and it recovered and is now growing. It's time for a water change *sigh*.

Oh yeah, here's the little controller I'm busy programming for the greenhouse:
It's good fun. Nice, open little device. It's an electronic Swiss army knife.
