dang i may have discovered a free chiller!
when i built my sump i created an agitation chamber with an angled overflow that fallows water to flow over into first chamber of sump. the glass is at about a sixty five degree angle and the bottom end is below the water level in sump. i did this to reduce noise. it resulted in a triangular air pocket under the overflow. and it seems the water flowing over it causes it to cool down ( 3000 lph) to the extent that a jager 300 watt heater which is brand new, is on in my uninsulated garage in the afternoon to keep the water at 25 degrees c. and yes i will post pic tonight!

For example - to achieve 950 watts of cooling. - Refrigerant - 570 watts of electricity.
- Eco- cooler - 44 watts of electricity.

hey Qball! have you fixed your frame yet? jealousy makes u nasty! lol . dont piss on my parade. my heater is new(jager) not like the one that kept your hair straight! lol. will post pics tomorrow cos out at canal walk with family tonight. suppose this is the reverse of a fan over water( water under air) . will see how it works out! i hope it is what i stumbled on cos it would work using energy or flow that is already there!. ps i am topping up 6 litres a day on first two levels of frag tank(third one to follow) so only 180l incl sump at mo(shallow frag tanks water is only 30cm deep)

garage temp anything between 26 and 30deg on any day. type of cooling ,?no idea ,ask the smart guys! all i know is that in the agitation chamber, there are tons of bubbles generated by the force of water entering contained area causing very high bubbly surface movement(i think this will really help with levels of o2 in tank also) and then thin layer of water running over the angled glass at high speed(3000 lph). the interaction between water and air must be reducing the temp(i think)

yep definatly evaporative cooling. I built an experimental one a few years ago and it gave me 10 deg cooling on a hot day, just uses lots RO
Still a fantastic idea just what I need for my sump!
