This is actually the quickest, less messy than the brick idea as well, you need to be strong for this one as well.i had a blind rainbow cichlid once and i tried eunthanasing it by putting it in freezing water, i was so traumatised doin it in the first place and the fish just swam in the icy water, i couldnt take it and had to put him back in the tank, then one day when my dad wasnt here my dad took care of it, the poor bugger was starving cos it couldnt see the food and the other guys where whacking him cos he couldnt see them as well.

I could'nt do it. But I know it has to be done. Strange how if you catch a fish with a rod it is so easy to just whack him or break his neck . But when it's a pet it is not so easy.

Thanks for all the concern. I even tried to force feed him. held him with welding gloves to avoid getting stung. But as soon as I let it go the food was spat out.

mayb not seen as humane but perhaps more natural, is there nothing that is able to eat the fish? i know it's a lion so it limits the options somewhat but i'm assumin being devoured, ideally in one glup, is painless and more natural?

Jurre I don't want to see the fish that swallows a lionfish whole...

300kg potato bass perhaps?

I chop off their heads. Quickest and most painless way in my mind.

I killed so many fish from very young days when I went fishing, but now, getting so attached to my fish in the tank, I hope never to have the need.

An article I read many years ago recommended cold soda water. The cold increases respiration rate, then the co2 acts as anaesthetic.
